Tattoo Session Preparation
Larger Polynesian tattoos are often completed over multiple sessions — each one building on the last to expand the composition while maintaining flow and balance. Proper preparation makes every session more comfortable and produces stronger results. Here's how to get ready.

The foundation for a strong session starts the night before. Get a full 7–8 hours of sleep — fatigue lowers your pain tolerance and makes long sessions significantly harder to endure.
Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. Alcohol thins the blood, increases bleeding during the session, and can affect ink retention. Stay hydrated throughout the evening — well-hydrated skin accepts ink more evenly and heals faster.
Moisturize the tattoo area lightly the night before (unscented lotion only). Avoid sunburn, cuts, or skin irritation in the area. If you have any skin concerns, let your artist know before the session begins.
